What it achieved during the 2012 US presidential election felt like nothing short of predicting the future. And yet, all the data it used was out there in the open, available to anyone. I found that very inspiring at the time.&lt;/p&gt;&#10;&lt;p&gt;France is going through a difficult political period. The far right has a serious chance of winning the next presidential election, while the rest of the political landscape looks fragmented. At least, that is what recent polls suggest. Polling data and the models built on top of it play a significant part in day-to-day political debate &amp;ndash; sadly some may say.
